Canton, NY – Maddie Armstrong posted two goals and one assist,
Andrea Cary and
Elly Gamble scored twice each, and
Ella O'Neil dished out four assists as the SUNY Canton women's soccer team earned a convincing 9-0 win in their season finale against VTSU Lyndon on Wednesday. Eight different players registered a point for the Roos in the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cary got the Roos on the board in the 14th minute when O'Neil sent a cross in from the right side as the ball got by the Hornet keeper and Cary put the ball into the open net for her first goal in a Canton uniform.
- Canton struck again two minutes later when O'Neil played another cross in from the far side as Armstrong one-timed a shot into the left corner of the net for her first career goal.
- Cary registered her second goal off the game in the 32nd minute when O'Neil found her in the center of the box and she placed a shot into the upper right corner. The Roos owned a 17-0 shots on goal advantage taking a 3-0 lead on the scoreboard into intermission.
- Less than a minute into the second half Gamble got on the scoreboard as Sydney Hoefer's shot from the right side clanged off the crossbar but the rebound went right to Gamble who scored her second goal of the season.
- Five minutes later Armstrong registered her second tally of the day when O'Neil once again played a cross in from the right side as Armstrong redirected a header into the left side of net.
- Sam Scott registered her first career point and goal in the 61st minute dribbling through the Hornet defense and firing a shot past Lyndon keeper Aracely Delgado-Juarez from a sharp angle.
- Gamble netted her second of the night and team-leading third of the season at the 65-minute mark as her initial shot was deflected but she collected the ball and roofed a shot into the upper 90.
- Chloe Thomas added her first career goal collecting a loose ball in the box and beating a defender before finishing a left-footed shot into the left side of net.
- Kenadie Garrow concluded the scoring for Canton in the 72nd minute when she scored her first career goal after receiving a pass from Armstrong.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Eight different Roos registered a point paced by five points from Armstrong (two goals, one assist) and four points from O'Neil (four assists). Cary and Gamble added four points (two goals each), while three other players scored.
- The Roos controlled shots (83-0), shots on goal (41-0) and corner kicks (11-0).
- Mackenzie Ryan was not forced to make a save in her first career win, while Delgado-Juarez turned aside 32 shots, a Lyndon D-III era program record, in defeat.
- The Roos nine goals are tied for the most for SUNY Canton in program history in the D-III era as they also scored nine in a 9-0 win against York on October 1, 2016.
