Canton, NY – Eight members of the SUNY Canton baseball and softball teams have been named to their respective Academic All-District teams.
The all-district teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on their respective playing surfaces and in the classroom.
To be eligible for the honor student-athletes need to be sophomores or older, maintain at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA, have participated in at least 90 % of their team's contests or started 66 % of their team's contests. For pitchers, a student-athlete must have made at least 17 appearances OR pitched 35 innings. A max of five members per team are eligible to win the award.

Marissa Hawkins and
Ace Rogers from the softball team were honored.
Maybee Jr., an Applied Psychology major, started all 20 games he appeared in for the Roos hitting .271 with 13 hits, 12 runs and four doubles with a .448 on-base %.
McLean, a Business Management major, started all 26 games he appeared in registering 22 hits, 17 runs, seven doubles, a triple and five RBI with a .376 on-base % and .259 batting average.
Mills, a Criminal Justice: Law Enforcement Leadership major, started 23 of the 24 games he appeared in posting 21 hits, five runs, two doubles and six RBI with a .388 on-base % and .300 batting average.
Phillips Jr., a Business Management major, started all 29 games he appeared in posting a .424 on-base % and a .305 batting average with 25 hits, six doubles and 11 RBI.
Vazquez, a Physical Therapist Assistant major, hit .352 with a .410 on-base % posting 32 hits, 12 runs, six doubles, two home runs and 18 RBI.
Balcom, a Health and Fitness Promotion major who is also a member of the SUNY Canton women's volleyball team, hit .274 with a .312 on-base % recording 20 hits, six runs, four doubles, a triple and 8 RBI.
Hawkins, an Applied Psychology & Forensic Criminology double major, started 21 of the 24 contests she appeared in scoring a pair of runs.
Rogers, a Criminal Investigation major, started 22 of the 27 games she appeared in on the mound tossing 126.0 innings on the season.
