Mclear Records Four Points in Road Loss at Morrisville

Morrisville, NY – Jonney Mclear recorded four points in a road SUNYAC loss at SUNY Morrisville on Wednesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Roos jumped out to an early 2-0 lead behind goals from Michael Newcomb and Charles Grandaw.
  • The Mustangs rattled off three straight goals to take the lead before an Austin Mesler score knotted the game at three apiece after 15 minutes of action.
  • Morrisville caged four straight goals to start the second stanza before Jonney Mclear broke the scoring drought to make it 7-4 with 6:44 left in the second.
  • The hosts added two more goals to take a 9-4 lead into intermission.
  • The Mustangs outscored Canton 10-4 in the second half for the 19-8 final.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Mclear led the Roos with two goals and two assists while Mesler added two goals and one assist.
  • Devin Guerriero went 13-for-26 on faceoffs with a team-high seven ground balls
  • Dean Mohammed led the Mustangs with eight goals and one assist, while Nichols DeNichola and Jason Tedeschi added three goals and four assists each.
  • Blake Dunton made four saves in the first half to earn the win, while Hayden Todd turned aside 15 shots in the loss.

The Roos close out their season on Saturday when they host Oswego State at 1 p.m. on Senior Day.
