Jacobs & Mclear Combine for Six Goals as Roos Close out Season on Senior Day

Canton, NY – Alex Jacobs and Jonney Mclear combined for six goals as the Roos closed out their 2025 season with a 15-9 loss against visiting Oswego State on Senior Day on Saturday.

The Roos recognized their 11 graduating seniors Rory McCabe, Austin Mesler, Caeden Goodnough, Sam Servati, Tanner Amell, Jake Erskine, Will Stadler, Devin Guerriero, Luke Singler, Parker Hornung and Alex Jacobs in a pregame ceremony on Senior Day.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Lakers jumped out to an early 6-0 lead after the opening quarter scoring a pair of man-up goals. Corey O'Connor and Hayden Coney had two goals each in the first 15 minutes of action.
  • Oswego extended their lead to 7-0 just 33 seconds into the second quarter before Charles Grandaw got Canton on the board with his eighth goal of the season.
  • The Lakers scored three more goals before Goodnough found Jacobs for his fourth of the season. Oswego led 11-2 at intermission.
  • Play was even in the third quarter with each team scoring twice as Jacobs and Mclear found the back of the net.
  • Canton dominated play in the fourth quarter outscoring the Lakers 5-2 with Mclear scoring twice and Mesler, Goodnough and Jacobs scoring once each.
 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Jacobs led the offense with three goals and one assist, while Mclear scored three times and Mesler added a goal and two assists. Goodnough, Holden Hewlett and Hayden Todd picked up a team-best five ground balls, while Hornung caused a game-high four turnovers.
  • Emmett Starowizc paced the Lakers with three goals and four assists, while Coney added three goals and one assist.
  • Seamus Hand made seven saves allowing two goals in the first half in the win. Tyler Novak and Shamus Holohan split time in the second half combining for six saves.
  • Todd made 18 saves in the start playing the first three quarters, while Servati turned aside five shots in the fourth quarter.
  • Oswego had the upper hand in shots on goal (38-22), ground balls (50-38) and faceoffs (21-5).
  • The Lakers went 22-for-23 on clears, while Canton was 25-for-33. Oswego was 3-for-7 on man-up opportunities, while the Roos were 0-for-3.
