HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
- The Roos were strong right out of the gate and capitalized early when Andzel streaked out of her own end, skating deep into Potsdam territory and buried a shot glove-side high to put Canton up 1-0 at 6:46 of the first period.
- Both teams traded several solid chances in the second but both goaltenders stood tall. Lenihan made a series of spectacular save midway through the second period, stopping a Bears shot from point blank and knocking a rebound shot clear with her blocker.
- Late in the third period, Rylee Garrow blocked a Canton shot, raced down the ice and scored the game-tying goal at 13:36.
- The two teams traded several good chances in the overtime period but again Lenihan and Bears goaltender Hannah Barrett denied the shooters.
- Due to a new NCAA rule this season, if no team has scored through overtime the game goes to a shootout. Andzel and sophomore sophomore Isabella Paswaters both scored on their opportunities and Lenihan stopped three out of four shots to give the Roos the shootout win 2-1.
