JJ Clark

JJ Clark is in his fourth season as an assistant coach with the SUNY Canton women's hockey program during the 2024-25 academic year. 

The Roos tied the record for most wins (14) in a season as well as the mark for most conference wins in a season (8) for the second consecutive season during Clark's third season as an assistant during the 2023-24 season. Both Riley Andzel and Anna Pavlasova were named to the SUNYAC All-Rookie Team following Canton's first season in the SUNYAC in women's hockey.

SUNY Canton tied the record for most wins in a season (14), set a new mark for conference wins in a season (8) and had their best first semester of a season (10-1-1) during Clark's second season on the bench during the 2022-23 campaign. The team earned its first ever win against Oswego State with a 2-0 shutout (2/3/23). The team qualified for its first NEWHL Tournament before falling to champion and No. 2 nationally-ranked Plattsburgh State. Senior Sirena Alvarez was named the NEWHL Goaltender of the Year and following graduation went crosstown to earn her Master's degree at St. Lawrence while using a fifth year of eligibility playing for the NCAA Division I Saints. Freshman Danika Lalonde was named to the conference's All-Rookie Team.

The Roos earned 13 wins posting a 13-10-1 overall record and 7-10-1 mark in the Northeast Women's Hockey League (NEWHL) during Clark's first season as an assistant during the 2021-22 season. 

Clark comes to Canton from Bridgton Academy in Bridgton, Maine, where he was the boys’ assistant hockey coach during the 2020-21 season.

While at Bridgton Clark served as a key recruiter, formulated daily practice plans, designed skill development strategies for individuals and the team, helped to implement the breakout and forecheck, and assisted the athletic director with scheduling.

In addition to his duties as assistant hockey coach, Clark also served as an assistant admission counselor. He also previously worked as the assistant director of the Bridgton Academy Sports Camp.

"I am excited to join the staff for the upcoming season,” Clark said when he was hired. “I look forward to using my knowledge of the game to help our student-athletes in continuing to develop their skills. I am also eager to learn from our players as we continue to build a cohesive team."

Outside of hockey Clark has worked for eight years at the United Parcel Service in Stowe, Vermont as an assistant manager where he specialized in graphic design.
Clark graduated from High Point University in 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management. He was a member of the men’s club hockey team.
