Cote and Pavlasova Record Two Point Nights in 3-3 Tie vs. Chatham

Canton, NY – Bailey Cote registered a goal and assist and Anna Pavlasova recorded two assists as the SUNY Canton women's hockey team earned a 3-3 OT tie against visiting Chatham in non-conference action on Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Eleven minutes into the game Chelsea Clark found herself alone on the breakaway and rang a shot off the right post.
  • A minute later the Roos nearly got on the board when Ally Bickford put the puck into the net at the right post, but the goal was waved off for a high stick.
  • Chatham got on the board first at the 13:04 mark of the first period. Liv McTavish won the puck free at the near boards and found Klara Miuller who skated below the left circle and roofed a wrister into the top right corner for the early lead.
  • The Roos knotted the game at one apiece at 15:38 on the power play. Isabella Paswaters collected the puck behind her own net leaving a pass for Anna Pavlasova through the neutral zone. She found Bailey Cote at the point as Cote wristed a shot just inside the left post.
  • Canton held a 13-5 shots on goal advantage in the opening period as the teams skated to first intermission tied at one.
  • The Cougars regained the lead at 13:44 of the middle period when Miuller scored her second goal of the game on a snipe of a shot as she went bar down from the left of the left circle.
  • Canton controlled shots on goal 13-6 in the second period, but the Cougars led 2-1 after 40 minutes.
  • Just 1:41 into the third period the Cougars converted off a Canton defensive zone giveaway. Kylie Shannon had the puck in the slot and it deflected off a Canton defender right to Anabel Lota who buried the puck into the open left side of net.
  • The Roos got within one just 24 seconds into their second power play of the game and converted with the skater advantage once again. Cote played the puck from below the left circle to Kamryn Barnes at the left point. She cycled the puck to Pavlasova at the right point who left it back for Barnes. She wristed a low shot through the five-hole of Sally Sweeney to make it 3-2 at 4:30 of the third.
  • Canton tied things up at three apiece at 15:42 of the third when Danika Lalonde wristed a shot top shelf from the left circle. Jordan Caroccio was credited with a helper on the play.
  • The Roos outshot Chatham 26-3 in the third period as the teams would skate to overtime.  
  • Canton outshot the Cougars 4-1 in OT, but the teams would settle for the tie. Chatham won the shootout 2-1.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Cote led the Roos with a goal and assist, while Pavlasova tallied two assists. Barnes registered her first goal of the season and the second of her career.
  • Miuller scored twice for the Cougars.
  • Abby Seaman made 12 saves for the Roos, while Sam Brophy turned aside 53 shots for Chatham.
  • Canton was 2-for-2 on the power play while killing off their lone penalty.
