Canton, NY – The Roos outscored Fredonia by 11 in the first quarter and finished the game on a 6-0 run to earn a thrilling 85-82 SUNYAC win in women's basketball action on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Roos got off to a scorching start shooting 12-for-20 from the field and 6-for-11 on threes in the opening quarter as they led 30-19 after 10 minutes. Hope Aniceto hit four threes for 12 points in the quarter, while Sierra Pabo had 11 points.
- Fredonia bounced back outscoring Canton 28-17 in the second stanza as the teams were deadlocked at 47-47 at intermission. Pabo had 14 points and Aniceto had 12 in the opening half, while Kyla Smith led the Devils with 12 points.
- Neither team led by more than four in the third quarter as Fredonia held a slim 18-17 scoring advantage as the visitors took a 65-64 lead to the final frame.
- The Devils extended their lead to as many as six (74-68) after a Kaylyn Sweeney made three with 6:16 to play.
- The Roos trimmed the deficit to just one at 80-79 after a Natalie Bartle layup with 2:06 to play. Fredonia hit a pair of free throws extending their lead back to three with 1:40 to play but those would be their last points of the game.
- Bartle hit a jumper to get Canton within one with 1:14 to play. Chelsie Tyler drained a clutch jumper with 24 seconds remaining from the corner right in front of Canton's bench after a steal by Bartle as she found her open teammate. Bartle knocked down a pair of clutch free throws with six seconds left and Grace Alexander's game-tying three at the buzzer was just off the mark as Canton earned the win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Sierra Pabo tied a career-high with 27 points shooting 12-for-19 from the field and tied a game-high with six assists to go with two steals and two rebounds. Bartle stuffed the stat sheet with 25 points, nine steals, seven rebounds and six assists shooting 10-for-12 from the line. Her nine steals tied the Roos D-III era program record of nine steals initially set by Antanasia Chambers on two separate occasions (1/18/18, 1/26/19).
- Hope Aniceto chipped in 12 points, while Kat McRobbie-Taru added nine points, four rebounds and four blocks. Tyler supplied nine points off the bench in just 10 minutes hitting all four of her field goal attempts and her lone three.
- Alexander paced Fredonia with 19 points, while Payton Gilbert added 18 points and nine rebounds. Smith (12) and Sweeney (10) also scored in double figures.
- Canton shot 44% from the field, 32% from three and 74% from the line, while the Devils had marks of 46%, 20% and 78%, respectively. The Roos turned the ball over just 11 times while forcing 21 Fredonia turnovers.
- The Roos had the advantage in points off turnovers (20-12), while Fredonia had the upper hand in rebounds (44-33), points in the paint (42-20), bench points (30-10) and second chance points (26-14).
