Nunnally Posts Career-High 25 as Roos Set Pair of D-III Era Shooting Records in Win at Cazenovia

Team Sets D-III Single-Game Program Marks in FG & Three-Point Percentages

Cazenovia, NY – Michael Nunnally netted a career-high 25 points and the Roos shot nearly 64% from the field and over 72% from three-point range on their way to a convincing 101-72 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) road win at Cazenovia College on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Cazenovia jumped out to an early 8-2 lead before Canton tied things at 10 apiece just over five minutes in. The Wildcats would open their largest lead of the game at seven points (17-10) with 12:13 left in the opening half.
  • The Roos went on an impressive 35-10 run over the next 10 minutes to open up a commanding 18-point lead (45-27) after a Nunnally three ball. Canton led 49-34 at intermission.
  • The hosts would never get closer than 13 in the second half as the Roos extended the lead to as many as 33 after a DeMerrill Levy trifecta with 7:41 to play as Canton earned the convincing road win.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Nunnally finished with game-highs of 25 points and eight rebounds shooting 9-for-13 from the field and 5-for-7 from behind the arc. Quran DuBois and Juztin Chambers-Phillips supplied 18 points each with DuBois recording eight rebounds and Chambers-Phillips hitting eight of his nine shot attempts including both his shots from long distance.
  • Levy posted 16 points hitting all four of his treys and Eli Larson chipped in seven points and seven rebounds off the bench going 3-for-3. Eleven different players scored a point for the Roos with 16 players seeing time in the game.  
  • Alan Willmes Jr. (14), Kobe Bogart (11), Nate Klein (10) and Christian Sage (10) scored in double figures for Cazenovia.
  • The Roos were on fire shooting 63.5% from the field (40-for-63) and 72.2% from three-point range (13-for-18). The Wildcats finished with marks of 35.8% and 11.1%, respectively.
  • The 63.5% field goal percentage and the 72.2 three-point percentage were both NCAA D-III era single-season program records and the best percentages in at least the last 11 seasons. The previous high field goal percentage was 59.6% on January 12, 2013 v. the College of St. Joseph, while the previous high mark for three-point percentage was 58.5% on January 25, 2019 v. NVU-Johnson.
  • Canton dominated rebounds (47-23), while holding the upper hand in points in the paint (32-24), bench points (41-34) and second chance points (11-6). Cazenovia controlled points off turnovers (18-9).
