Todd and Mesler Lead Roos Past MCLA in NAC Action

Williamstown, MA – Hayden Todd made 10 saves in the first half and Austin Mesler tallied a game-high seven points as the Roos cruised past MCLA in NAC play on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Roos got off to a strong start scoring the first four goals over the first 10 minutes of action as Alex Jacobs found the back of the net twice. Canton tacked on two more goals over the final two minutes to take a 6-1 lead after the opening quarter.
  • Canton outscored MCLA 5-4 in the second stanza which included a pair of scores from Carter Pooler as the Roos led 11-5 at halftime.
  • The game was more low scoring the second half with Canton outscoring the hosts 4-3 after intermission for the 15-8 win.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Mesler led all players in points (7), goals (4) and assists (3) while adding three ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers. Jacobs registered three goals and two assists and Caeden Goodnough tallied three goals and an assist. Michael Newcomb supplied a goal and three assists and Pooler scored three times. Devin Guerriero won 14 faceoffs and picked up a team-high eight ground balls.
  • Boden Dock and Anthony Andolina finished with three goals each for the Trailblazers.
  • Todd made 10 saves allowing just five goals (.667 save %) in the first half to earn the win. Sam Servati stopped five shots surrendering just three goals (.625 save %) in the second half. Neal Brierley made 11 saves in defeat for MCLA.
  • Canton had the advantage in shots on goal (26-23), saves (15-11) and faceoffs (14-13).

The Roos are back in NAC action on Wednesday when they host SUNY Poly at 4 p.m.
