Alex Jacobs scored four goals as the Roos won a thrilling contest, 11-10, against visiting SUNY Poly in a matchup of NAC unbeatens on Wednesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Caeden Goodnough gave the hosts an early lead less than three minutes in when he received a pass from Rory McCabe and buried his 14th goal of the season.
- SUNY Poly responded with back-to-back markers just over a minute apart to take their first lead of the game.
- From there the Roos caged three straight goals with Goodnough scoring his second of the game followed by back-to-back tallies from Jacobs 61 seconds apart.
- The Wildcats scored with the man advantage with just over two minutes remaining in the first as Canton held a 4-3 lead after one.
- The second quarter was low scoring with Poly owning a 2-1 edge. Tanner Amell fed Jacobs for the lone Canton goal of the period. The teams went into intermission tied at five apiece.
- The Wildcats edged Canton 5-4 in a much higher scoring third quarter to take a 10-9 lead to the fourth.
- The Roos defense stepped it up in the final frame holding the visitors off the scoreboard. Carter Pooler tied things up at 10 apiece netting his eight goal of the season with 11:33 remaining. Austin Mesler put home his 27th of the season off a feed from Pooler with 9:48 remaining, which proved to be the game-winner.
- There were some big defensive efforts down the stretch for the Roos. Leading by a goal with 4:26 remaining Todd left his cage going behind his own goal to pick off a Poly pass giving the Roos possession. Todd made three saves in the final three plus minutes including stopping a shot with Canton down a man with 1:50 remaining.
- The Roos had great clock management down the stretch as Poly was whistled for a penalty and Canton was able to run the shot clock all the way down before the penalty was enforced. With 60 seconds on the shot clock and 30 on the game clock the Roos played keep away with the ball in their offensive end to secure the thrilling win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Canton received a balanced offensive effort on Wednesday led by four goals from Jacobs. Amell, Goodnough and Mesler supplied two goals and one assist each, while Pooler tallied a goal and two assists. Michael Newcomb chipped in a pair of assists and McCabe added one of his own. Devin Guerriero won 13 of 24 faceoffs and Rilee St. Croix picked up a game-high eight ground balls.
- Andrew Maycock paced Poly with a goal and three assists, Lyle Beeman posted a goal and two assists and Luke Taylor, Ian Short, Ryan Carroll and Michael Baker scored two each.
- Todd finished with 15 saves (.600 save %) and five ground balls in the win. Joseph Van Zandt turned aside nine shots in defeat.
- The Roos held the upper hand in ground balls (41-27), faceoffs (14-11) and saves (15-9). Canton was 17-for-21 on clears, while Poly was 16-for-18. The Wildcats were 3-for-6 on extra man opportunities, while the Roos were 1-for-3.
