Women’s Lacrosse Completes Conference Play Unbeaten with Win vs. Poly on Senior Day

Canton, NY – Caroline Nappi scored five goals and Samantha Dayter and Maddy Caron combined for 14 points as the SUNY Canton women's lacrosse team earned a 19-5 NAC win against SUNY Poly on Senior Day.

The Roos honored their graduating student-athletes Dayter, Michaela Conti and Ava Reynolds in a pregame ceremony.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • SUNY Poly scored the opening goal of the game with the player advantage, but the Roos rattled off five straight from there with two each from Dayter and Nappi. The hosts held a 5-2 lead after the opening quarter.
  • The Roos dominated the second quarter outscoring the Wildcats 4-0 to take a 9-2 lead into intermission.
  • Canton continued to control play to the tune of a 6-1 advantage on the scoreboard in the third frame taking a 15-3 lead to the fourth.
  • They doubled up Poly 4-2 in the final frame for the 19-5 final to complete the unbeaten regular season in conference play.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Dayter led all players with eight points, five assists and six draw controls to go with three goals. Maddy Caron supplied three goals, three assists, five draw controls and game-highs of seven ground balls and three caused turnovers.
  • Caroline Nappi caged a game-best five goals, Morgan Montgomery added two goals and two assists, and Lindsey Wunder registered a goal and three assists. Michaela Conti, Sydney Dunn, Ava Reynolds, Molly Sweeney and Aayliah White also scored for the Roos.
  • Katie Kopcza and Abigail Rosaschi finished with two goals each for the visitors.
  • Canton controlled shots on goal (28-13), ground balls (27-20) and draw controls (15-12).
  • Olivia Scott made seven saves allowing just three goals over the first three quarters, while Erin Anderson made one save in the fourth quarter.
  • Jayden Brown turned aside nine shots in defeat for Poly.
 
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Roos have locked up the No. 1 seed and hosting rights in the upcoming NAC Tournament on May 4th and 5th.
