Canton, NY – Samantha Dayter and
Maddy Caron combined for 10 goals and nine assists and
Olivia Scott made nine saves (.900 save %) as the women's lacrosse team cruised past SUNY Poly 16-3 to advance to their third straight NAC championship game on Saturday afternoon.
The Roos will square off with SUNY Morrisville on Sunday in the conference championship game at 3 p.m. with the winner advancing to the 2024 NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship Tournament. The Mustangs defeated Husson 13-12 in OT in Saturday's second semifinal.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first quarter proved to be a defensive battle as the two goalies combined to make nine saves over the first 15 minutes.
- Dayter fed Caron to get the Roos on the board just over four minutes in.
- With just under two minutes left in the quarter Canton's clearance game paid off as Aayliah White found Caroline Nappi on the break for the score.
- Scott stopped all five shots she faced in the opening quarter as the hosts led 2-0.
- The Roos outscored the Wildcats 6-0 in a dominating second quarter as they held a 12-3 shots on goal edge in the quarter taking a commanding 8-0 lead to intermission.
- Caron and Nappi had three goals each in the opening half, while Dayter had a hand in six goals with a goal and five assists.
- Canton continued to dominate play in the third quarter outscoring Poly 4-1 as Caron and Dayter scored two goals each.
- The Roos received a goal each from Nappi, Dayter, Caron and Morgan Montgomery in the fourth quarter for the 16-3 final.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Dayter had a hand in 12 goals tallying four goals, eight assists and five draw controls. Caron finished with a game-high six goals to go with an assist and five draw controls. Nappi caged four goals, Montgomery scored twice and White added an assist and game-high six ground balls to go with three draw controls and two caused turnovers.
- Callie Johnson, Katie Kopcza and Madison Bastien scored one goal each for the Wildcats.
- The Roos controlled shots on goal (33-14), draw controls (14-8) and ground balls (23-19).

With the win the Roos advance to Sunday's NAC championship game where they will square off with SUNY Morrisville at 3 p.m. The winner will earn the NAC's automatic qualifier to the 2024 NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship Tournament. Â
