Four Score Three Each as Roos Remain Perfect in NAC Play at Thomas

Roos Alone in First Place with Two Games Remaining

Waterville, ME – Four different players scored three goals each as the SUNY Canton women's lacrosse team cruised to a 20-0 NAC road win at Thomas College on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Four different players scored in the first quarter as Samantha Dayter found the back of the net three times. SUNY Canton led 6-0 after 15 minutes of action.
  • Seven different players recorded second quarter goals as the Roos held a convincing 13-0 lead at intermission.
  • The Roos outscored the Terriers 7-0 in the second half to secure their first shutout of the season.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Dayter led all players with eight points, three goals, five assists and added five draw controls. Lindsey Wunder tallied three goals and two assists and Morgan Montgomery and Caroline Nappi caged three goals each.
  • Jaedyn Awan finished with a career-high three points on a goal and two assists, Maddy Caron scored twice and Aayliah White posted a goal and assist. Hannah Reed, Molly Sweeney, Sydney Dunn and Ava Reynolds found the back of the net once each. Sweeney picked up a game-high five ground balls and Caron registered a game-best six draw controls.
  • Olivia Scott made five saves in her first shutout of the season. This marks the first shutout for the Roos since they defeated Thomas College 17-0 on March 16, 2019.
  • Gwendolyn Schillie turned aside 10 shots in defeat for the Terriers.
  • The Roos controlled shots on goal (30-5), draw controls (17-6) and ground balls (16-7).
 
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Roos are back in action on Wednesday in a pivotal NAC showdown at SUNY Morrisville at 4 p.m. The Roos (5-0) have a one game lead on both Morrisville (4-1) and Husson (4-1) in league play and already own the head-to-head tiebreaker with the Eagles. A win on Wednesday would lock up the No. 1 seed and hosting rights for the Roos in the upcoming NAC Tournament.
