Austin Mesler added three goals and five assists as the SUNY Canton men's lacrosse team opened North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play with a 19-15 road win at Husson University on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The teams exchanged a pair of early goals before Jacobs scored his second of the game with 3:24 left in the opening quarter to put Canton up 3-2 after one.
- Rory McCabe slotted his first goal of the season early in the second quarter to extend the lead to two before back-to-back Husson goals knotted things at four apiece.
- The Eagles took their first lead of the game at 6-5 after Matt Boynton scored his second man-up goal in a 33 second span.
- From there the Roos scored the final four goals of the half including two in the final 1:17 to take a 9-6 lead into intermission.
- Canton netted three of the first four goals in the third quarter to open a 12-7 advantage after Jacobs fifth tally of the game.
- The hosts got within 12-9 but the Roos rattled off five straight goals to open a commanding 17-9 lead with 11:36 left in the game.
- Canton rotated numerous players through the lineup as Husson scored six of the final eight goals which ultimately led to the 19-15 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Jacobs led the Roos with seven goals, while Mesler had three goals and five assists. Tanner Amell tallied three goals and two assists, while Caeden Goodnough scored twice and assisted two others. Michael Newcomb posted three goals and an assist and Carter Pooler dished out three assists. McCabe scored once and Sean Hornung had an assist.
- Boynton led Husson with seven goals, while Nathan Vibber scored three.
- Hayden Todd made 12 saves allowing 11 goals playing nearly 53 minutes. Odin Burk made 11 stops in the loss for Husson.
- The Roos had the upper hand in shots (41-39) and shots on goal (30-28) while Husson had an edge in faceoffs (21-17).

The Roos are back in action on Wednesday when they visit Keuka at 4 p.m.
