Scott Stops Season-High 16 Shots in Road Tilt at Utica

Utica, NY – Senior Olivia Scott stopped a season-high 16 shots including 12 in the first half as the SUNY Canton women's lacrosse team fell in a non-conference road contest at Utica  University on Wednesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Samantha Dayter got the Roos on the board first less than three minutes in when she put home her third goal in the last two games off the feed from Caroline Nappi.
  • Utica scored three straight goals before Nappi found Maddy Caron to get Canton within 3-2 after 15 minutes of action.
  • The Pioneers ran off three more consecutive goals to open a 6-2 advantage before Caron caged her second of the game to get the Roos with 6-3 at halftime.
  • Scott was outstanding stopping 12 shots in the opening half (.667 save %) keeping Canton in the game headed to intermission.
  • Utica pulled away in the third quarter outscoring the Roos 5-0 and ran their goal streak to seven straight with two to start the fourth quarter as they led 13-3 en route to the win.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Caron led the Roos with two goals, while Nappi had a pair of assists and Aayliah White and Dayter scored one each.
  • Maria Stuhlman paced the Pioneers with four goals and two assists, while Samantha DeCondo had two goals and four assists. Grace Stuhlman chipped in four goals and an assist.
  • Scott finished the game with 16 saves, which were her most since she made 18 last season in a 13-12 loss to Hartwick (3/22/23).
  • Makayla Purdy turned aside seven shots in the win for Utica.
  • The Pioneers held a 16-7 advantage in draw controls and had the upper hand in shots on goal, 31-11.

The Roos have a week off before opening NAC play next Wednesday (4/3) when they host VTSU Lyndon at 4 p.m.
