Goodnough & Pooler Score vs. Bears

Potsdam, NY – Caeden Goodnough and Carter Pooler found the back of the net, but the Roos were unable to overcome an early deficit in a road loss at SUNY Potsdam on Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bears jumped out to an early 3-0 lead just over five minutes in. Canton got on the board a little more than four minutes later when Caeden Goodnough scored his fifth goal of the season.
  • Potsdam tallied the next three goals to close out the first quarter with a 6-1 lead.
  • The hosts outscored the Roos 4-0 in the second stanza taking a commanding 10-1 lead into intermission.
  • The Bears kept the foot on the gas pedal owning a 5-0 scoring advantage in the third quarter running their consecutive goal streak to 12 as they led 15-1 after 45 minutes of play.
  • Pooler broke the streak for the Roos midway through the fourth quarter before Potsdam scored 25 seconds later for the 16-2 final.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Goodnough and Pooler scored one goal each for the Roos, while Zack Barney picked up a game-high eight ground balls. Jake Erskine was 5-for-7 on draws and added three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Tanner Amell also chipped in with three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
  • Peyton Walsh led the Bears with seven goals, one assist and three caused turnovers, while Drew Rose added three goals and two assists.
  • Saka Thompson made one save allowing one goal in the first half in the win for the Bears, while Liam O'Neill stopped three shots and allowed one goal in the second half.
  • Hayden Todd made 18 saves allowing 15 goals over the first three quarters for Canton, while Sam Servati turned aside six shots surrendering one goal in the fourth quarter.
  • The Bears controlled shots on goal (40-6), ground balls (58-27) and faceoffs (13-9). Potsdam was 22-for-26 on clear attempts, while Canton was 17-for-31.
     
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Roos are back in action on Saturday when they host Maine Maritime Academy in their North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opener at 12 p.m.
