Cicero, NY – Brody Fuhrey fired a round of nine-over par 81 as he sits in a tie for 14th place after the first round of the Empire 8 Men's Golf Championship at Lake Shore Yacht & Country Club on Sunday.
The teams will tee it up for 18 holes in the second round on Monday, while completing the four-round tournament with two more rounds in the spring.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Fuhrey went out in 45 before coming home in even par 36 as he sits in 14th place out of 48 golfers. He finished his round with nine pars and two birdies as he recorded six pars and two birdies on the back nine.
- John McCall is tied for 24th place after firing a round of 85. He went out in 40 and came home in 45 totaling seven pars on the day.
- Donald Cordova and Kyle Murphy are both tied for 35th after registering rounds of 88. Cordova shot 45 on the front and 43 on the back with five total pars, while Murphy shot 44 on both sides also tallying five pars.
- Ben Wiley's 89 (42-47) and Mason Dumas' 105 (56-49) rounded out those competing for the Roos.
- The Empire 8 has six players compete for each team taking the top four scores towards the team scores.
- After the opening round SUNY Canton sits in seventh place out of eight teams with 342 strokes ahead of SUNY Poly (370). St. John Fisher leads the team event with 299 strokes ahead of Nazareth (314) and Oswego State (320).
