Johnson Shoots Team-Low 76 on Sunday, Rumble Finishes Top 30 at St. Lawrence Invitational

Canton, NY – Carter Johnson recorded a team-low score of 76 (+4) on the final day of the St. Lawrence Invitational at Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course on Sunday, while teammate Raine Rumble led the Canton golfers finishing in the top 30 individually for the two-day, 36-hole tournament.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a bit of a rough start to his collegiate golfing career on the opening nine holes on Saturday, Johnson played the final 27 holes of the tournament at just 6-over par. His round of 76 (39-37) on Sunday was the lowest for any of the Roos as he recorded a birdie, 12 pars and five bogeys to tie for 62nd place out of 88 golfers.
  • Rumble followed up his 76 on Saturday with a 77 (39-38) on Sunday posting a birdie, 11 pars and six bogeys to tie for 29th individually.
  • Kahontiio Lazore matched his 79 on Saturday with another 79 (38-41) on Sunday registering a birdie, nine pars and eight bogeys. Casey Jacobs, playing as an individual, shot the fourth lowest Canton round on Sunday (81) and fourth lowest overall for the team in the tournament as he finished with a two-day total of 166 to place 77th.
  • Tyler Martin concluded the Canton scoring players on Sunday with an 81, improving by nine strokes from Saturday. Brody Fuhrey (84), Sam Eells (84) and Mason Dumas (90) rounded out Canton's golfers on Sunday.
  • The Roos finished in 13th place out of 13 teams with 639 strokes (326-313). St. Lawrence's 'A' team won the team title with 575 strokes ahead of second place Clarkson (583). Hobart (592), Nazareth (594) and New York University (597) rounded out the top five.
  • St. Lawrence took the top two spots individually as Charlie Novak shot a two-day total of 140 (-4), while Joey Degnan carded a 141 (-3).
