Jay, VT – Raine Rumble fired a round of 5-over-par, 77, to capture medalist honors and the SUNY Canton men's golf team won the team event at the Lou Jarvis Invitational at Jay Peak Resort Golf Course on Monday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Rumble posted a 77 going out in 41 before coming home in with an even 36 on the back nine. He birdied the 220-yard par-three 14th hole and eagled the 527-yard par-five 16th hole going three-under in a three-hole span. The sophomore finished with an eagle, a birdie, eight pars and eight bogeys overall. Rumble bested the field of 15 golfers in the three-team tournament by four strokes.
• Kahontiio Lazore placed third with a score of 82 (40-42). He carded a birdie, eight pars, eight bogeys and a triple during his round.
• Johnson recorded a fourth place showing with an 84 (39-45) registering two birdies, six pars, six bogeys and four doubles. Sam Eells tied for fifth with an 85 (41-44) and Tyler Martin finished ninth with a 91 (47-44) to round out the Roo competitors.
• Canton won the team event with 328 strokes ahead of Lesley (354) and host VTSU Johnson (386).

The Roos will play their fourth 18-hole round in a span of five days when they tee it up on Wednesday at the Clarkson Invitational at Potsdam Town & Country Club at 11 a.m.
