Jay, VT – The SUNY Canton men's golf team won the Lou Jarvis Memorial Tournament at Jay Peak Resort & Golf Course on Saturday with a team score of 326. Sophomore
Adam Szlamcynski led the Roos with a round of 6-over par, 78, to finish in a tie for fourth place individually.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Szlamcynski carded equal rounds of 39 on the front and back nine. Gavin Neuland finished with a round of 81 (42-39) to place seventh, while Josh Marshall posted an 82 (39-43) for eighth place. Szlamcynski tied for first in par 3 scoring (3.00)
- Jake Hess recorded an 85 (44-41), while Sam Martin tallied a 94 (47-47) for the 'A' team.Hess tied for third in par 5 scoring (4.80).
- Brendan Kanoza led the 'B' team with a round of 81, while Nick Messerschmidt finished in 10th with an 83. Zack LaFave posted an 86, while Tony Barcomb rounded out the competitors with a 113. Twenty-eight players competed in the tournament overall.
- Castleton placed second with 335 strokes, while Paul Smith's was third (351). NVU-Johnson (358), SUNY Canton 'B' (363) and SUNY Cobleskill (407) rounded out the field.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Roos return to the course next Saturday when they take part in the Paul Smith's College Invitational at Saranac Inn Golf Club.
