Syracuse, NY - Sophomore
Iida Laitinen has been named the Northeast Women's Hockey League (NEWHL) Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Laitinen produced a huge opening weekend to her career as she recorded six points on four goals and two assists. She had an assist on Canton's second goal in a 2-0 road win at King's College on Saturday. The sophomore followed that up by tallying a game-high four goals with one assist in a 14-1 rout of the Monarchs on Sunday. She also went 12-for-21 on face offs on the weekend and tied a team-high with a +7 on-ice rating.
