Brockport, NY – The SUNY Canton women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at the Golden Eagle Classic on Saturday.
The Roos (10-21) fell 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-19) to host Brockport (23-8) before falling in straight sets 3-0 (25-19, 25-11, 25-16) to Hiram College.
Match 1 – Box Score
Shea Norton and
Skye Hansen led the Roos with eight and seven kills, respectively, in the opening match.
Jenna Roat recorded a team-high 12 digs, while
Peyton Robinson dished out 21 assists.
Brockport jumped out to a 13-5 lead in the opener as Canton as unable to get closer than six the remainder of the set. The Roos held a 4-0 lead in the second set but Brockport rallied to tie the frame at nine apiece. Canton led 17-15 but the Eagles took their first lead since early in the set at at 18-17 and scored the final four points for the 25-20 win. The hosts opened a 15-8 advantage en route to closing out the match, 25-19 in the third set.
Match 2 – Box Score
Marissa Ixtlahuac paced the Roos with seven kills in their second match of the day, while Hansen and
Melissa McMaster posted five kills apiece. Roat led all players with 17 digs, while Robinson tallied a match-high 25 assists.
The Roos led 8-7 in the opening set but five straight points helped the Terriers take control earning a 25-19 victory. Hiram controlled play the final two sets earning convincing wins.
