Houghton, NY – The SUNY Canton women's volleyball team split a pair of matches on Friday evening at the Houghton College Tournament.
The Roos (10-19) fell 3-0 (25-14, 25-11, 26-24) to Geneseo (20-10) in the opener, before bouncing back with a 3-1 (18-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-20) victory v. Houghton (11-18) in the nightcap.
Match 1 – Box Score
Marissa Ixtlahuac and
Melissa McMaster posted six kills each to lead the Roos, while
Camryn Smeatin added five kills.
Peyton Robinson totaled 16 assists and seven digs, while
Sydney Uthe also recorded seven digs.
Geneseo hit .244 in the match with 34 kills and 15 errors, while the Roos 20 errors proved costly as they finished with 21 kills.
Match 2 – Box Score
After dropping the opening set in their second match the Roos bounced back with three straight set wins to secure the 3-1 victory. Ixtlahuac (13),
Shea Norton (13), McMaster (10) and Skye Hanen (10) all had impressive outings with double digit kills.
Jenna Roat (15) and Tatum Lafrance (10) had impressive defensive performances with double digit digs. Robinson led all players with 48 assists.
The Roos produced 57 kills compared to just 34 for the Highlanders, while Canton also held the upper hand in aces (7-4), assists (55-31) and digs (49-46).
