Keuka Park, NY – Melissa McMaster posted 16 kills as the SUNY Canton women's volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Keuka College Tri-Match on Sunday.
The Roos fell to the University of Rochester 3-0, (18-25, 20-25, 15-25) before bouncing back with a 3-1, win (18-25, 27-25, 25-20, 25-8) v. host Keuka.
Match 1 – Box Score
The Roos fell in straight sets to Rochester (15-10) in the opening match despite holding a 9-8 edge in service aces as
Jenna Roat and
Jenifer Morgan-Aubin pinpointed three aces each.
Shea Norton and McMaster led the offense with eight kills apiece, while Marrisa Ixtlahuac added three blocks and
Peyton Robinson dished out 25 assists.
Match 2 – Box Score
After dropping the opening set v. the Wolves (6-17), SUNY Canton (9-18) prevailed 27-25 in a key second set scoring the final two points on a Keuka attack error and kill from Ixtlahuac. The Roos seized their second set momentum closing out the match in four sets including an impressive 25-8 win in the final frame.
Ixtlahuac led all players with 10 kills, while McMaster (8), Norton (7) and
Camryn Smeatin (6) all posted six or more kills. Canton had a strong match at the net totaling 15 blocks including 14 block assists. Smeatin finished with five blocks, while McMaster added four.
Roat (15) and
Sydney Uthe (10) both totaled double digit digs, while Robinson assisted 32 kills.
