Canton, NY – The SUNYCanton women's volleyball team extended its win streak to 11 matches with Saturday sweeps over visiting Paul Smith's College and the University of Maine-Fort Kent at the Roos House. The Roos (15-4) defeated the Bobcats 3-0 (25-13, 25-11, 25-6) before handing the Bengals a 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-15) loss.
SUNY Canton used a strong service game in its opening set victory pinpointing 15 service aces in the match. The Roos were superior finishing with a .392 hitting percentage, compared to a negative output in that category for their counterparts.
Kelsy Cornish (Honeoye, NY) and
Jessica Reynolds (Oakville, ON) paced the Roos with eight kills apiece while combining for 13 digs.
Mackenzie Mynter (Churchville, NY) assisted a match-high 33 kills to go with four digs, two aces and two blocks.
Robyn Carroll (Bowmanville, ON) was strong defensively with a match-best 12 digs. Meanwhile,
Morgan Bills (Walworth, NY) and
Morgan Wicks (Hartford, NY) posted six kills apiece.
The Roos continued their strong serving in the second match of the day with another 10 aces headed by five from Reynolds. Carroll (16) and Mynter (10) both posted double digits in digs, while the senior setter added 26 assists. Cornish led all player with 11 kills on 24 attempts.
