Roos Extend Win Streak to 12 Matches with Win Over UMFK

Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton women's volleyball team put down visiting Maine-Fort Kent in straight sets on Sunday to extend their winning streak to 12 games. The Roos (16-4) defeated the Bengals (17-5) 3-0 (25-14, 25-22, 25-21).

Kelsy Cornish (Honeoye, NY) led the Roos offensively with 10 kills, while Morgan Wicks (Hartford, NY) tallied nine putdowns. Mackenzie Mynter (Churchville, NY) dished out 30 assists to go with seven digs and five kills. Jessica Reynolds (Oakville, ON) had a strong outing with six kills and nine digs and Morgan Bills (Walworth, NY) posted five kills and three blocks. Emily Thomas (Horseheads, NY) was a key defensively registering seven digs, while libero Robyn Carroll (Bowmanville, ON) notched eight digs.

Despite struggling offensively and hitting just .164 as a team the Roos were able to hold off UMFK for the second time in two days. SUNY Canton finished with 36 kills compared to 26 for the visitors. The Roos got off to a quick start as the Bengals had just five kills in the opening set. Fort Kent hung tough in the second and third sets as SUNY Canton won those frames by a combined seven points.

The women's volleyball team will travel up Route 11 next weekend to take part in the Clarkson University Invitational.
