HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Despite an evenly played first period, it was the Red Dragons who got on the scoreboard first when Kira Cook lit the lamp for her team with a power play goal at the 8:24 mark.
  • The Roos had an edge in the second, outshooting Cortland 14-10 but were unable to solve goaltender Eline Gillodes.
  • In the third period, Gillodes continued to stymie the Roos.  As the end of the period approached, Canton struggled to gain an opportunity to pull Lenihan for the extra attacker.  A faceoff deep in the Red Dragon's end with 23 seconds remaining allowed Coach Kalie Hart to call a time out and set up the final play.  After a faceoff scrum, the puck made its way to Pavlasova at the point and she made use of a screen to rip home the tying goal with 13.1 on the clock.
  • Both teams traded chances in the overtime, but the game ended in a 1-1 tie.  An exhibition shootout was held after overtime with Cortland winning 1-0.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • With one point each, Pavlasova and Andzel are now tied for second in points (12) with senior Lucy Beal.
  • Canton is currently in the sixth and final playoff spot in the SUNYAC standings, four points ahead of Buffalo State.

  • The Red Dragons held the edge at the faceoff dot, winning 25 of 43 draws.  Junior Kylah Small led the way with six wins.
