HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After a scoreless first period, sophomore Logan Kelly scored a power play marker at 2:57 of second, snapping home a cross-ice pass from senior Evan Pringle to give the Roos a 1-0 lead.
  • The Thoroughbreds responded at the end of the second with Bryson Russell banging home a loose puck in front of the net to tie the game 1-1.
  • Skidmore took their first lead of the game at 2:03 of the third period when Cooper Rice, spun at the top of the circle and wristed a shot past a screened Miller to put his team up 2-1.
  • Canton tied the game 2-2 at 8:28 of the third period on some solid work from sophomore Brandon Fryfogel, who won a battle behind the net and fed junior Jackson Drysdale in the slot for the easy tap in.
  • The period would stay tied through the buzzer and both teams headed to three-on-three overtime.  It wouldn't take long for the Roos to capitalize as Schoner received a long stretch pass from senior Reilly McKinnon and used his skilled hands to deke past goaltender Joshua Seeley and score the game-winner.
