Colton Alexander scored a pair of goals and junior
Trey Miller made a career-high 43 saves as the SUNY Canton men's hockey team recorded a 3-1 victory over Plattsburgh State in a key SUNYAC matchup.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Alexander opened the scoring, skating to the top of the circle and snapping a shot just inside the right post to give Canton a 1-0 lead. The goal was scored at 4:56 of the first period and was assisted by senior Reilly McKinnon and junior Niko Schoner.
- Scott Cremen extended the Roo's lead at 3:03 of the first, skating down the right-hand boards and beating goaltender Beau Lane glove-side at 3:03 of the period to extend Canton's lead to 2-0. Alexander and junior Cory Liu assisted on the goal.
- After a scoreless second period, Jake Sacratini cut the lead in half at 16:08 of the third.
- With the Cardinals goaltender pulled, Alexander gained possession of the puck and chipped it from his blue line into the yawning net with just 53 seconds remaining give Canton the 3-1 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- With their points tonight, Alexander and Cremen are tied for third on the team with 11 each.
- Schoner's assist on the first goal of the evening gives him 15 points to lead the team.
- This was Alexander's second two-goal performance of the season, the other coming against Misericordia on 11/2/25.
- The Roos were 1/4 on the power play and a perfect 2/2 on the penalty kill.
- Plattsburgh had a slight edge at the faceoff dot winning 39 to the Roos 35. Sasenbury led the Roos with 14 wins.
- Miller's 43 saves breaks his previous record of 42 from earlier this season against Nazareth. Lane made nine stops in the first period before he was replaced by Brady Spry who stopped 13 shots and did not give up a goal.

The Roos continue their road trip tomorrow, traveling to play Skidmore College on Saturday January 17
th with a 4 p.m. puck drop.
