Pringle Scores, Roos Push Bengals to OT

Canton, NY – Senior Evan Pringle scored his team-high sixth goal of the season but the SUNY Canton men's hockey team dropped a 2-1 overtime decision to Buffalo State on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Sutton Murray got the visitors on the board late in the first, tipped a shot from the point past junior Trey Miller to give the Bengals a 1-0 lead.  The goal was scored on the power play and was assisted by Foster Nichol and Vadim Kiriakov.
  • The Roos tied the game at 1-1 with a power play marker of their own at 18:19 of the second period with Pringle redirecting a Scott Cremen shot over the shoulder of Buff State goalkeeper Marcus Cumberworth.
  • The game would remain knotted at one all through three periods and head to three-on-three overtime.  In the extra frame it was the Bengals who capitalized on the wide open format with Lucas Signoretti finishing a two-on-one break and depositing the game winner in the net.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Pringle leads the team now with six goals on the season, including two on the power play.  He is currently second in points with 12.
  • Cremen's assist was his ninth of the season, just one shy of teammate Nick Schoner who leads the team with 10.
  • Senior Jordyn Mughal led the team with two blocked shots, including a key stop in the third period to keep the game tied.
  • Buffalo State had a 32-29 advantage at the faceoff dot with freshman Spencer Sasenbury leading the way with 13 draw wins.
  • Miller made 24 saves for the Roos with Cumberworth stopped 34 for the Bengals.

The Roos travel to play Plattsburgh State on Friday January 16th  with puck drop at 7 p.m.
