Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton women's volleyball team is set to open the season on Friday, August 29 at 5 p.m. against Hilbert in the Keuka College Tournament.
The Roos will play seven straight road games to start the 2025 season before returning home to host VTSU Johnson in the North Country Classic on September 12. SUNY Canton will open SUNYAC play with a home contest against SUNY Oneonta on October 3. To view the team's full schedule release, click

SUNY Canton will look to play spoiler in their second season in the SUNYAC after the league voted the Roos to finish in 10th place with 14 points just behind Plattsburgh State (17 points) in the SUNYAC preseason poll. With 81 points, the Cortland Red Dragons were selected to repeat as conference champions for the third straight season.
The Roos 2025 roster features 17 total players with a mix of eight returners and nine newcomers under second-year head coach
Cooper Colesante.
"I'm really looking forward to seeing the new faces on the roster," Colesante said. "We have gotten the connection going between our setters and hitters and working on our defense has been a focus in practice so far. Practice has been very intense, and we are looking forward to our first game on Friday."
SUNY Canton also adds Kiersten Morrow as an assistant ahead of the 2025 season.
"Coach Morrow brings great energy to practice," said Colesante. "She has a great perspective on the game that I have never had from an assistant coach before."
The team welcomes back
Emerson Coulter, who was the team leader with 186 kills (2.24/set) and was second on the squad with 33 services aces (0.4/set) and 199 digs (2.4/set) a season ago.
Also returning is senior
Brooke Hite who tallied 122 kills (1.37/set) and 25 blocks. Another senior
Kiley Zicari played in 26 of the 27 matches for the Roos last season which included 75 total digs. Captaining the squad will be Zicari, sophomore hitter
McKenna Pelech, and sophomore libero
Daycee Bane.
The Roos bring nine newcomers into the fold for the 2025 campaign which includes a sophomore, two juniors, and six freshmen.
