Sarah Balcom recorded a team-best three hits on the day but the SUNY Canton softball team dropped a pair of SUNYAC games against visiting Oswego State on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1 - BOX SCORE
- The Lakers scored one run on an error in the first inning before the Roos responded in the bottom of the first when Bella Betancur scored on a wild pitch. She led off the bottom of the first with a walk and Balcom followed with a double to left.
- Oswego tacked on three runs each in the second and third innings combining for six hits in the two frames.
- Canton got two back in the bottom of the third to get within 7-3 after three innings. Balcom singled to right field and after a pair of Oswego errors two runners crossed the plate on the play in Betancur and Jordyn Tarbox.
- The Lakers added five runs on five hits and three errors in the fourth before adding another run in the fifth for the 13-3 run-rule win in five innings.
- Balcom led Canton with two hits and an RBI, while Tarbox also recorded a hit.
- Gianna DeGonza paced Oswego with three hits and two RBI, while Kira Wright, Kylie Detz and Mattison Phinney all supplied two hits each. Detz also drove in a pair of runs, while Ellie Mahoney recorded a team-best three RBI.
- Maria Lutz picked up the win for Oswego allowing two earned runs with nine strikeouts and two walks in five innings.
- Ace Rogers took the loss surrendering seven earned runs with three strikeouts in five innings.

GAME 2 – BOX SCORE
- The Lakers got things going quickly in the nightcap plating four runs on five hits and an error in the first.
- Oswego added another run in the second and tacked on three more runs in the sixth to pick up the run-rule victory in six innings.
- Balcom, Torie Moore and Ava Hayes finished with one hit each in the nightcap for Canton.
- Lillian Haggerty and Phinney had three hits each, while Mahoney and Detz supplied two each with Mahoney driving in four more runs in the nightcap to finish with seven RBI on the day.
- Chelsea Sellars picked up the shutout win for Oswego with nine strikeouts allowing three hits over six innings.
- Rogers took the loss surrendering six earned runs with a strikeout and walk in six innings.

The Roos are scheduled to close out their season with a non-conference doubleheader at St. Lawrence on Sunday at 12 p.m.
