Moore Records Four Hits and Three Stolen Bases Against Mustangs

East Syracuse, NY – Senior Torie Moore recorded four singles and three stolen bases while classmate Sarah Balcom and freshman Rylynn Martin-McIntyre both recorded two hits but SUNY Canton dropped both ends of a doubleheader against Morrisville on Monday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 
GAME 1 – BOX SCORE
  • The Roos opened the game in the top of the first inning with Moore and Balcom both reaching base on singles towards right field.
  • Moore would reach third base in the inning but was not able to score in the inning.
  • The Mustangs also had multiple hits in the bottom of the first inning but left three runners on base as the Roos defense stifled them in the first inning.
  • The Roos kept the hot bats going in the second as Martin-McIntyre singled to third base.
  • Junior Maggi Yandoh advanced to second in the inning after the single from the freshman outfielder but neither were able to score in the inning.
  • The Mustangs got the scoring started in the bottom of the second inning scoring three runs on four hits.
  • The Roos again put two runners on base during the top of the third.
  • Canton retired the side in order in the bottom of the third inning, forcing all three into pop ups.
  • Morrisville homered to open up the bottom of the fourth inning to make the score 4-0 in favor of the hosts.
  • Canton would add two runs to the scoreboard in the top of the fifth inning with RBI's for Balcom and freshman Jordyn Tarbox. Moore and Balcom both scored in the inning.
  • The Mustangs would go on to add five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and one run in the bottom of the sixth to end the game at 10-2 in six innings. 

GAME 2 – BOX SCORE
  • The Roos again started the game with Moore reaching first on a single and Bella Betancur followed with a double moving Moore to third. However, the next three batters went down in order to end the scoring threat. 
  • The Mustangs scored three runs in the bottom of the first and added four more runs in the bottom of the third inning to make the score 7-0.
  • In the top of the fourth inning after two consecutive walks, Yandoh stole third and eventually scored on an error.
  • Moore again singled in the top of the fifth.
  • The Mustangs again added one run in the bottom of the fifth and the score would stay 8-1 for the rest of the contest. 
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Roos are back in action on Friday for a home doubleheader against Buffalo State at 3 p.m.
