Little River, SC – Torie Moore and
Bella Betancur recorded two hits each in Sunday's opener as the SUNY Canton softball team dropped a pair of games to Delaware Valley and Penn College on their opening day in Myrtle Beach at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic.

HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME 1 – BOX SCORE
- The Aggies scored three runs, two of which were unearned, on a hit and two errors in the opening inning. They tacked on two more runs in the second, four in the third and a six spot in the fourth inning.
- Canton scored their lone run in the third inning when Betancur singled to right field to bring home Moore who opened the inning with a leadoff single and stole second before advancing to third on a throwing error.
- Moore and Betancur led Canton both going a perfect 2-for-2, while Maggi Yandoh drew a walk.
- Amelia Funston paced the Aggies going 3-for-3 with two runs, a walk and four RBI. Madison Donnelly was 2-for-3 with three RBI.
- Kenzie Boyd picked up the win for Delaware Valley tossing a complete game giving up one earned run with a walk and four strikeouts.
- Yandoh took the loss for Canton allowing 13 earned runs with 10 walks in 3.2 innings. Ace Rogers threw 1.1 innings of scoreless ball with three walks.
GAME 2 – BOX SCORE

- Play was scoreless through two innings in the nightcap before Penn College erupted for three runs each in the third and fourth innings and added two more for the run-rule win.
- Ava Hayes broke up the no-hitter in the top of the fifth legging out an infield single before stealing second. She was able to advance to third on a ground out but unable to score.
- Mackenzie Weaver and Ryleigh Rinker had three hits each for the Wildcats while Weaver helped her own cause driving in three runs.
- Weaver earned the complete game win with a one hitter, one walk, one hit batter and 12 strikeouts.
- Rogers took the loss allowing eight earned runs with two strike outs and a walk in 4.1 innings.

The Roos are off Monday and scheduled for a doubleheader on Tuesday against Sweet Briar and Lycoming at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
