Miller Makes 41 Saves Against #1 Hobart

Canton, NY – Junior Trey Miller made 41 saves against the number one team in the country on Saturday afternoon, but the SUNY Canton men's hockey team dropped a 4-0 decision to Hobart College.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Hobart struck first, when Adam Mendelson picked up the puck along the boards and lifted a shot top shelf to put the Statesmen up 1-0 at the 9:11 mark of the first period.
  • Chris Duclair doubled the lead just over a minute later, finishing a beautiful give and go play with Tamas Toth to extend the lead to 2-0.
  • The Statesmen continued their push in the second period with Nick Dimatos slapping a one-timer past Miller at 6:51 of the period.
  • Tristan Fasig closed out the scoring at 9:38 of the third stanza, tipping a Calum Chau shot into the net to give Hobart the 4-0 victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • The Statesmen outshot the Roos 45-17.  Junior Niko Schoner led the Roos with four shots on goal.
  • Canton had a slight edge at the faceoff dot winning 32 of 58 draws.  Freshman Spencer Sasenbury led the way with 13 wins.
  • The Roos were a perfect 3/3 on the penalty kill and were 0/3 on the power play.
  • This is the sixth time Miller has made 40 or more saves in a game in his career and the second time this season.  Damon Beaver stopped all 17 shots he faced for Hobart to earn the shutout.

The Roos travel down Route 11 to face rival SUNY Potsdam on Tuesday November 25th at 11 a.m. in a non-conference tilt.
