Molly Lenihan made 35 saves for the SUNY Canton women's hockey team but the team dropped a 5-0 decision to SUNY Cortland in a SUNYAC matchup on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- Cortland lit the lamp first at 8:58 of the first period with Kira Cook banging home a rebound past Lenihan to give the Red Dragons a 1-0 lead.
- Katie Mahoney gave Cortland a 2-0 lead six minutes later, making a nifty move to beat her defender and lifting the puck top corner.
- Cook scored her second of the period on the power play, slamming home the puck in a scrum in front of the net.
- A second period goal by Josselyn Drayson and a third period marker by Fanny Aneborn sealed the Red Dragons 5-0 victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The Red Dragons outshot the Roos 40-21. Seniors Ashten Morris and Jane Pancoe and junior Riley Andzel led Canton with three shots each.
- Cortland had an edge at the faceoff dot 34-23. Isabella Paswaters led the Roos with 11 wins.
- Cortland was 1/2 on the powerplay while Canton was 0/1.
- Lenihan finished with a season-high 35 saves. Eline Gillodes made 21 saves for the shutout for the Red Dragons.
