  • Location: Stan Cohen Court – Canton, NY
  • Records: SUNY Canton (1-3) | VTSU Lyndon (1-2)
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Canton led 11-8 early after an old-fashioned three-point play from Reese. After a short spurt from the Hornets Canton used a 9-0 run to open a 22-14 lead after a fastbreak layup from Reese.
  • The Roos lead ballooned to double digits quickly and Canton extended its lead to as many as 23 in the opening half after a pair of free throws with Aaron Rodriguez with 18 seconds left. The hosts led 56-36 at intermission.
  • Reese paced Canton with 14 first-half points, while Streb had nine. Gregory Gonyea Jr. led the Hornets with nine points.
  • Lyndon never got closer than 18 in the second half as the Canton lead grew to as many as 34 en route to the 106-77 win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Reese led the team with 22 points off the bench. The sophomore, who was a member of the JV team last season, only played 23 minutes and nearly doubled his previous career high of 12 that he set in last night's game against SUNY Poly.
  • Bryon Streb had his second double-double of the season and set season bests in both points with 19 and rebounds with 12. Chris Nastasi and Edram Gbekou were both in double-figures with 15 and 11 respectively.
  • Wesley McIntyre, who had put up 72 points in Lyndon's first two games, was held to just 15 points on 5-for-17 shooting. Gregory Gonyea Jr. was the only other Hornet in double figures with 14.
  • The Roos shot slightly better than the Hornets at 44% (30-69) while Lyndon was at 41% (25-61). In a game with 57 combined fouls, the Roos made the most of their opportunities at the line going 39-of-47 at the stripe while Lyndon struggled, making just 22 of their 36 atttempts as a team.
  • The 106 scored in the game is the first time in over two years the Roos have recorded 100 points (11/8/23 vs. Paul Smith's)
