Canton, NY – Byron Streb and
Jahdeuir Reese both scored in double figures but the Roos dropped what was a tight battle throughout to visiting SUNY Poly in a non-conference men's basketball contest on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Roos jumped out to an early 7-0 lead following four points from Streb and a three-pointer from Hansen Bagdonas.
- The Wildcats responded with an 11-0 run of their own to open a four-point advantage just over five minutes in. Canton bounced back in an early game of runs with a 9-0 run of their own as Edram Gbekou found Reese in transition for a 16-11 lead with 9:12 left in the opening half.
- With the game knotted at 20 apiece the Roos used a 7-0 run to take a 27-20 lead. However, Poly closed the final 2:34 of the half on a 9-1 run to take a 29-28 advantage into intermission.
- Streb led Canton with nine first-half points, while Anthony Rose tallied 10 for the Wildcats.
- Neither team led by more than four points in the second half until the final minute of the game. The teams were tied at 51 (5:32), 53 (4:34), 55 (3:41) and 57 (2:26) down the stretch before Poly took the lead for good with 1:27 to play on a Kamryn Comstock layup.
- The Roos had three good looks at open threes on their ensuing possessions but were unable to knock down the shots as the Wildcats went 6-for-8 from the line in the final minute to seal the win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Streb led the Roos with 18 points, nine rebounds and four steals, while Reese tallied 12 points, seven rebounds, two steals and two assists.
- Rose paced the Wildcats with 23 points and 10 rebounds, while Brian Bonin added 11 points and nine boards. Marquis Samuels and Comstock chipped in nine points apiece.
- Canton was whistled for 24 fouls compared to just 15 for Poly as the Wildcats scored 12 more points from the free throw line (23-for-34) compared to an 11-for-17 mark for the Roos. The hosts reserves outscored the Wildcat bench, 21-9.
