Canton, NY – The 2025-26 SUNY Canton women's hockey team features 26 student-athletes as the Roos are scheduled for a 25 game schedule in their third season in the SUNYAC under fourth year Head Coach
Kalie Hart.
SUNY Canton plays two exhibitions this weekend, one at home against SUNY Potsdam on Friday, and another at national powerhouse Plattsburgh on Saturday. The Roos open the regular season at Stevenson on October 31st and November 1st.
The Roos have been picked to finish fifth in the SUNYAC in a vote of the league's eight head coaches. William Smith joins the SUNYAC as an associate member in the sport of women's hockey this season. Plattsburgh was picked to defend their title with 49 points ahead of Cortland (40) and Oswego (37). Newcomer William Smith (30) was chosen fourth just ahead of Canton (29) in fifth. Morrisville (6th – 15) and Buffalo State and Potsdam (T-7th – 12) rounded out the poll.
The Roos host MCLA in their home-opening games on November 7th and 8th before kicking off SUNYAC play against Morrisville (11/14) and Cortland (11/15) on Hockey Reunion Weekend. To view the team's full schedule release, click

SUNY Canton's 2025-26 roster couples 19 returners with seven newcomers. Seniors
Sydney Valiquette and
Danika Lalonde will captain the team for the second straight season, while classmates
Jane Pancoe and
Kyra O'Keefe will serve as alternate captains for the second straight season.
The Roos return seven of their top eight scorers from a season ago including four players who recorded eight or more points.
Riley Andzel led the Roos with 12 points in the form of five goals and seven assists including a pair of game-winners. Lalonde registered nine points on four goals and five assists, while
Bailey Cote tallied eight points on five goals and three assists with a pair of game-winners.
Isabella Paswaters recorded eight points on three goals and five assists.
Canton welcomes back all three of its goaltenders from last season in
Molly Lenihan,
Abby Seaman and
Alyssa Townsley. Townsley led the team in save % (.945) and goals against average (1.52) posting a 3-3-0 record with one shutout. Seaman finished with a 3-2-1 record, one shutout and a .927 save % and 2.06 GAA. Lenihan recorded a pair of wins with a .930 save % and 2.56 GAA in 14 appearances.
SUNY Canton's seven newcomers include a senior and six freshmen. The new student-athletes feature three forwards, three defenders and a goalie. Meet the new players from the last time the Roos took the ice, who are listed below numerically.
