Roos Use Balanced Offense to Cruise Past Hawks

Hamburg, NY – The SUNY Canton women's basketball team dominated from start to finish cruising to a 70-37 non-conference win at Hilbert College on Thursday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Roos used an 11-1 run to open up an 18-7 lead late in the first quarter and took a 20-9 advantage after 10 minutes of play.
  • The scoreboard was much more even in the second stanza with Canton holding a slim 8-7 edge taking a 28-16 lead into intermission.
  • Canton dominated in the third quarter outscoring the host Hawks 24-9 extending their lead to 27 at 52-25 after 30 minutes of action.
  • The Roos continued to control play in the fourth quarter in the convincing win.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Natalie Bartle led all players with 17 points and added four rebounds, three steals and three assists. Hope Aniceto and Kat McRobbie-Taru provided 12 points each with McRobbie Taru adding four rebounds and Aniceto three steals. Sierra Pabo finished with 11 points and Torie Moore stuffed the stat sheet with eight points and game-highs of 11 rebounds, five assists and three blocks.
  • Kelsey Schlagenhauf, Kylie Morgan and Kayla Johnson led the hosts with seven points each and combined for 18 rebounds.
  • Canton shot 40% from the field and 16% from three-point range compared to marks of 32% and 40% for Hilbert.
  • The Roos forced the Hawks into 30 turnovers and controlled rebounds (43-36), points off turnovers (27-0), points in the paint (46-18), fast break points (19-8) and second chance points (11-6).
