Nate Hopkins made 28 saves for the SUNY Canton men's hockey team as they skated to a 0-0 tie with SUNY Potsdam on Saturday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams had opportunities to score in the first three periods but Hopkins and Bears netminder John Werber were up to the task with Hopkins making 27 saves through three and Werber making 30.
- In overtime shots were even at two apiece but neither team could find the back of the net.
- Due to a new NCAA rule this season, if no team has scored through overtime the game goes to a shootout. Sophomore Adrian Franco and junior Scott Cremen both scored on their opportunities and Hopkins stopped two out of three shots to give the Roos the shootout win 2-1.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Freshmen Logan Kelly and Brandon Fryfogle led the Roos with five shots each.
- Junior Evan Pringle, playing in his first game of the season after coming back from an injury, led the team with two blocked shots, both midway through the third that stopped a dangerous scoring opportunity for the Bears.
- Both teams were 0/2 on the power play
- The Roos had the edge at the faceoff dot 37-19. Senior Brendan Morrow lead the way with 14 wins.
- Hopkins stopped 29Â shots and Werber made 32Â saves for Potsdam.
