Roos Use Hot Shooting in SUNYAC Win at Morrisville

Morrisville, NY – The SUNY Canton women's basketball team shot 50% from the field and three-point range cruising to an 84-62 SUNYAC road win at SUNY Morrisville on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Canton jumped out to an early 14-6 lead behind eight points from Bartle. The Roos led 23-16 after the opening quarter.
  • The Roos continued to control play in the second stanza outscoring the Mustangs 23-15 to take their largest lead of the half at 15 (46-31) into intermission.
  • Canton shot nearly 56% from three-point range and 50% overall in the first half compared to marks of 20% and 37% for the Mustangs.
  • Bartle finished with 13 first-half points to lead all players, while Torie Moore tallied 10 points and Hope Aniceto added nine. Kieonna Christmas paced Morrisville with seven points.
  • The Roos continued to dominate in the third frame outscoring Morrisville 25-14 to open a commanding 71-45 lead after 30 minutes of action.
  • Canton cruised in the fourth quarter earning the 22 point SUNYAC victory.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Bartle led all players with 21 points and six assists while adding six rebounds and three steals. Aniceto and Moore supplied 18 points each while combining for nine rebounds. Moore shot 8-for-10 from the field and Aniceto was 6-for-11 along with Bartle. Sierra Pabo tallied 16 points on 7-for-10 shooting.
  • Anyssia Ingersoll registered 17 points and six rebounds, while Christmas recorded 11 points and nine rebounds.
  • The Roos shot a blistering 50% from three-point range and the field while knocking down 84% of their free throws. Morrisville had marks of 15%, 40% and 75%.
  • Canton had advantages in points off turnovers (17-7) and fast break points (20-4), while Morrisville had the edge in bench points (17-7).
