Four Roos Reach Double Figures in SUNYAC Road Tilt vs. Red Dragons

Cortland, NY – Four Roos reached double figures in scoring, but the SUNY Canton men's basketball team was unable to overcome a double digit halftime deficit in an 81-66 SUNYAC road loss at Cortland on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Play was close early on with Cortland holding a slim 12-11 lead eight minutes in after a Chris Nastasi jumper. From there the Red Dragons used a 13-1 run to open a 25-12 advantage three minutes later.
  • Cortland extended their first half lead to as many as 18 and took a 43-30 lead into intermission.
  • The Roos trimmed the lead to nine early in the second half, but a 7-0 run gave the hosts a 16 point lead six minutes into the half. Cortland controlled the game the rest of the way for the conference win.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Nate Cohen led the Roos with 14 points, a game-high four steals and added three rebounds and two assists. Kevin Goode Jr. recorded 12 points, while Bryon Streb tallied 11 points, eight rebounds and three assists. Malaki Smith provided 11 points on 5-for-7 shooting, while Eli Larson chipped in eight points and nine rebounds.
  • Kendall Arcuri paced Cortland with 28 points and six rebounds, while Isaiah Austin finished with 16 points and seven rebounds. Kendrick Wilson also scored in double figures with 13 points.
  • Cortland shot 54% from the field and 52% from three-point range while Canton had marks of 39% and 26%, respectively.
  • Canton had an edge in points in the paint (36-28) and fast break points (6-2).
