Emerson Coulter scored 13 kills and senior
Sammie Frank added 11 more to go along with 33 assists and 14 digs as the SUNY Canton women's volleyball split their games against Hilbert College and SUNY Brockport on Saturday afternoon.
The Roos swept the Hawks 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-18) in the first match and were defeated by the Golden Eagles 3-0 (16-25, 13-25, 15-25) in their second contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Match 1 – BOX SCORE
- Both teams traded the lead early with Hilbert climbing to a slight 6-5 advantage. The Roos would score eight of the next nine points, capped with an ace by Frank. The Hawks would close the gap to three, trailing only 21-18. From there, Hilbert would eventually go on top 23-22, but the Roos rallied with three straight points, including a kill and ace by senior Alexas Marshall to win the set 25-23.
- In the second set, the Hawks would race out to a 5-0 advantage before Canton pushed back to a take a 9-8 lead on a McKenna Pelech kill. The teams swapped points back-and-forth before the Roos went on a four-point run to lead 19-14 on a Brooke Hite kill. From there, Canton cruised to a 25-21 win on another Marshall kill.
- Hilbert again staked an early lead in the third set, leading 8-5 on a McKenna Rice kill. The Roos responded, scoring six of the next seven points to lead 11-9. After two consecutive aces by Hite and two kills by Coulter the Roos held a 22-14 advantage. Hilbert would make a push, scoring four straight points, but Canton closed out the set 25-18 and won the match in straight sets.
- Coulter led the Roos with 10 kills, senior Sarah Towles recorded 17 digs and Frank added 22 assists.
Match 2 – BOX SCORE
- In the first set, the Roos were up 6-3 on a Frank kill. Canton would extend the lead to 10-6 on a Coulter ace. The Golden Eagles went on a 9-1 run to hold a 15-11 advantage before extending their lead to 23-13 on an Alexis Sison kill. Brockport would eventually close out the set with a 25-16 win.
- After an early Coulter kill tied the set 4-4, the Golden Eagles ran off seven-straight, capped by a Anna Cascapera kill. Brockport extended the lead to 16-6 before consecutive kills by Hite and Frank closed the gap to 16-8. The Roos were unable to close the gap further and dropped the set 25-13.
- In the third set, both teams traded early points before a Frank kill put the Roos on top 7-6. The Golden Eagles then ripped off seven-straight points to lead 13-7. A kill be Daycee Bane closed the gap to 14-10, but it was all Brockport from that point forward with the Golden Eagles taking the set 25-15 and winning the match 3-0.
- Frank led the Roos with seven kills and 11 assists, Towles recorded a team-high eight digs.
