Coulter, Balcom Lead Roos in Second Day of Elmira Quad Match

Elmira, NY - Freshman Emerson Coulter had nine kills and senior Sarah Balcom led the team with five blocks and three aces but the SUNY Canton women's volleyball dropped a pair of matches against Smith College and Alfred State on Saturday afternoon.

The Roos fell 3-0 (15-25, 22-25, 11-25) in the opener to Smith College and dropped a much closer 3-2 decision  (25-17, 25-16, 22-25, 23-25, 2-15) to Alfred State in their second match.

Match 2 – BOX SCORE 
  • The Roos ran out to a quick two games to none lead before the Pioneers responded, winning two close games 25-22 and 25-23.  Alfred State won the rubber match 15-2.
  • Coulter's nine kills led the Roos with junior Brooke Hite finishing with eight followed by Balcom's six.
  • Balcom's three aces were matched by senior Sarah Towles.
  • Towles recorded 13 digs to lead the Roos, followed by junior Sammie Frank's nine.

The Roos host Paul Smith's College on Wednesday, September 4th at 7:00 p.m.
