Six Baseball Players Named NAC West Second Team All-Conference

LaValley Named to Sportsmanship Team

Waterville, ME – Edilberto Rosado, Alphonse Fuca, John LaPorte, Maxwell Rose, Nick Shoemaker and Eliezer Vazquez have all been named to the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) West Second Team All-Conference, as announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon. Hunter LaValley was recognized as the Roos member on the NAC Sportsmanship Team. 

Rosado, who was named to the NAC West Second Team at catcher, hit .260 with 19 hits, a double, 13 runs and five RBI in 73 at-bats. Behind the plate he finished with a .962 fielding % recording 86 putouts and three assists in 92 chances. He also drew 14 walks for a .407 on-base %.
 


Fuca, who was honored on the NAC West Second Team at first base, hit .246 with 14 hits, eight runs, four doubles and four RBI in 57 at-bats. In the field he finished with a .972 fielding % tallying 147 putouts and 30 assists in 184 chances. Fuca also drew a team-best 14 walks and was hit four times for a .407 on-base %.
 


LaPorte was named NAC West Second Team at second base after hitting .250 with 26 hits, two doubles, a triple, 10 runs and six RBI in 104 at-bats. In the field he posted a .906 fielding % with 54 putouts and 52 assists in 117 chances. LaPorte was named the NAC Player of the Week on March 4th.
 


Rose picked up NAC West Second Team honors at third base, after posting four hits with a double and five RBI in 21 at-bats. On the mound he made two starts in 14 appearances tossing 27.2 innings with 29 strike outs.
 


Shoemaker was recognized on the NAC West Second Team at shortstop after leading the team with 31 hits, 17 runs, a .279 batting average and four doubles and seven RBI. He also drew nine walks for a .346 on-base %. Shoemaker eclipsed 100 career hits on April 26th against Eastern Nazarene.
 


Vazquez earned NAC West Second Team honors at the utility position after hitting .271 with 19 hits, six runs, four doubles and three RBI in 70 at-bats. On the mound he started one game making eight appearances tossing 18.0 innings with 14 strike outs. In the field he posted a .955 fielding % with 97 putouts and eight assists in 110 chances. Vazquez was named the NAC Rookie of the Week on March 4th.
 

 
LaValley was recognized as SUNY Canton's member on the NAC Sportsmanship Team. The NAC Sportsmanship Team is reserved for those who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. The honorees are individuals who have positively affected the baseball culture and game environment, and whose behavior clearly demonstrates sportsmanship and integrity that goes beyond baseball rules and etiquette.
