Canton, NY – Caeden Goodnough scored a game-high six goals, but the SUNY Canton men's lacrosse team couldn't overcome an early deficit in a 20-10 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) loss to visiting Maine Maritime Academy on Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Maine Maritime scored four of the first five goals of the game with the lone Roos tally coming from Goodnough off a feed from Carter Pooler.
- Canton scored two more straight off the stick off Goodnough to get within 4-3 late in the first quarter. The Mariners found the back of the net with 25 seconds left to take a 5-3 lead after 15 minutes.
- MMA netted three of the first four goals in the second quarter to open an 8-4 advantage, but Canton tallied back-to-back scores from Alex Jacobs to get within 8-6 with 5:42 left in the second.
- The Mariners ran off three straight to end the first half taking an 11-6 lead into intermission.
- The visitors outscored Canton 6-0 in the third quarter to put the game out of reach up 17-6 headed to the fourth.
- The Roos found the back four times in the fourth quarter with three coming from Goodnough for the 20-10 final. Â Â

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Goodnough led all players with six goals and picked up three ground balls, while Pooler tallied a goal and two assists. Jacobs scored twice and Austin Mesler had a goal and assist.
- Jayden Wilson paced the visitors with four goals and three assists, Sam Nichol added three goals and two assists and Brendan Reddington posted two goals and three assists. Bryce Crowell won 22 of 32 faceoffs and picked up a game-high 13 ground balls.
- Garrett Ruszkowski made nine saves over the first three quarters in the win.
- Sam Servati made six saves in the first half in the loss, while Hayden Todd stopped 12 shots in the second half.
- MMA held the upper hand in shots on goal (38-23), ground balls (53-33) and faceoffs (24-10).

WHAT'S NEXT?
The Roos finish the season at 5-3 in NAC play which ties them for fourth place in the league standings. However, SUNY Delhi wins the head-to-head tiebreaker from their win against the Roos on April 27th and earns the final playoff spot.
