Caron Scores Twice, Roos Unable to Overcome Early Deficit at Framingham State

Framingham, MA – Maddy Caron scored a pair of goals, but the SUNY Canton women's lacrosse team was unable to overcome an early seven goal deficit in a road loss at Framingham State on Monday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Rams scored the first four goals over the first four or so minutes of action. Caron caged her first goal of the game off the feed from Sydney Dunn just less than five minutes in.
  • From there the hosts scored four more consecutive goals to take an 8-1 lead after the opening quarter.
  • Farmingdale State dominated play in the second stanza outscoring the Roos 6-0 to take a commanding 14-1 lead into intermission.
  • Play was much more even in the second half with the hosts holding a slim 4-3 advantage.
  • Caron, Ava Reynolds and Lindsey Wunder had the second half tallies for Canton.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Caron led the Roos with two goals, while Wunder had a goal and assist. Caron picked up a game-high eight draw controls, while Jaedyn Awan tied a game-best with two caused turnovers.
  • Rachel Erickson (5 goals), Regan Fein (3 goals, 2 assists) and Hannah Guerin (2 goals, 3 assists) led the offense for the hosts.
  • Farmingdale State controlled shots on goal (22-13), ground balls (14-12) and draw controls (14-12).
  • Isabella DiMare made nine saves in the win for the Rams. Olivia Scott stopped three shots allowing 14 goals in the first half, while Erin Anderson made one save allowing four scores in the second half.

The Roos are back in action on Thursday when they visit Salem State at 4 p.m.
