Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton men's soccer team will be hosting a prospect ID Clinic on Saturday, April 13 from 2 to 5 PM for prospective student-athletes in grades 9-12, as well as those enrolled in junior colleges or four-year colleges who have filled out the proper release paperwork and documentation.
"Our spring ID clinic gives us a great opportunity to assess last minute prospects for the coming season, as well as get a great start on bringing rising seniors to campus for the first time," Head Coach
Tim Penrod said. "With our move to the SUNYAC this fall, the recruiting timetable gets pushed ahead even more, so the opportunity to identify future student-athletes in the spring, before the summer showcases and camps, is invaluable. I cannot overstate how important our clinic is to our recruiting process.
Unlike other ID camps and clinics, the SUNY Canton event provides an opportunity for participants to experience a full training session, work with coaches and current players, and gain a better understanding of the coaching styles of the men's soccer staff.
"We want prospective student-athletes to leave campus with a full understanding of the expectations we have as a staff, and provide them an opportunity to get a good feel for what we're about, both on and off the field," Penrod noted.
The clinic will include a full training session, goalkeeper specific training, and the opportunity to play in both small-sided and 11 v. 11 games. In order to ensure quality opportunities for the coaching staff to observe each participant, registration will be capped at 35 participants, with a maximum of six goalkeepers.
While the schedule is subject to change, the below schedule will give interested parties a rough layout of the day:
- 1:15 PM – Registration Opens
